LeBron James receives hilarious free agency pitch from Spurs center

The San Antonio Spurs are a long shot to land LeBron James, but that won’t stop Luke Kornet from shooting his shot at one of the hottest NBA free agents this offseason.

On Friday, the Spurs center published a post titled “LEAKED: Spurs’ Voice Memo Sent to LeBron James.” Perhaps this is his satirical take on recent news about teams sending voice memo pitches to the 41-year-old forward’s agent, Rich Paul.
“Hey LeBron. Mr. James? LeBron? LeBron,” Kornet said in the video. “This is Luke Kornet, No. 7 on the San Antonio Spurs. You yelled at me a little bit last week, or last year… We got a great thing going, a lot of young talent. It’s an easy place to live – tax-free.”
“You can play alongside a generational player (in myself), Victor too. We have SeaWorld, La Panaderia, it’s bussing. You’re chasing number five, we have five, we’re chasing 6. Around the same ballpark… Give me a call,” he ended.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the San Antonio Spurs are unlikely to join the LeBron James sweepstakes this summer.
“The Stein Line reported earlier this week (above) that the Spurs — who struck a deal Wednesday to sign Tobias Harris away from Detroit — were not expected to join the LeBron chase. That continued to be the expectation entering the holiday weekend even after the Spurs were mentioned by Paul on his podcast among 10 realistic destinations,” Fischer wrote on The Stein Line.
Last week, the Spurs agreed to sign Tobias Harris to a two-year, $31 million deal after the 33-year-old averaged 13.3 points and 5.1 rebounds over 63 regular-season games with the Detroit Pistons in 2025-26, so adding James would be redundant for them.
